May 21st – 25th Welcome! We had so much fun on Texas Day! Thank you for the donations and a special shout out to the volunteers!! Please let me know if your child is coming to school on the make up day Tuesday. I want to say my good-byes! Congratulations to Danny and Layah for passing all of their addition facts! Congratulations to Eva for earning 100 stickers. Congratulations to Blayne, Tuesday’s Leaader, Bentley on Wednesday, and Swanik on Thursday! Congratulations to the following students who earned 100% on all 10 sight word tests: Julian, Layah, Nadia, Olivia, Sam and Shirin! What an accomplishment! All books need to be turned in! Please check and make sure everything comes back!! We earned another 10 compliments and the children voted to have a disco party!! Have a great week!! May 7th – 11th Welcome! Wow! I love my Teacher Appreciation door! It means so much…a big thank you to the Schaffer’s J! Congratulations to Caleb for reading 100 books! Congratulations to Swanik for passing all of his addition facts! Our Mathematician last week was Caleb!! Our great leaders were Christopher on Wednesday and Adrian on Friday! We earned the Mighty Fine award for cafeteria behavior!! Way to go! This is the last week to check out books from the library. Now is a good time to start collecting and returning all school books!! April 16th – 20th Welcome! I hope all of you had a chance to look at the great research projects the students worked so hard on! They did a great job, learned a lot, and became quite skilled with technology! Congratulations to Olivia and Sam who were both mathematicians last week! This month is Poetry month. Your child can submit a poem to the library. In addition, email me a picture of them reading in their favorite spot! Check out the library web page for more info. Each day we are searching for Mighty Fine Leaders. Last week we had Eva on Monday, Cortlyn on Tuesday, Shirin on Wednesday, and Olivia on Friday. All of these kiddos went above and beyond as leaders in our room – Outstanding! A big thank you to Jayden’s mom for coming in to make turtles with us! She also treated the kiddos to a yo-yo! It was fun to celebrate him! Friday is a BIG day! Pack a water bottle!! I hope you can come by! One of our chicks has already started to peck his way out! April 9th – 13th Welcome! Thank you to EVERYONE who joined us for the field trip…so many parents came! It was a lot of fun, but a long bus ride!! Thank you to Sam’s mom for coming in on Friday and leading a craft activity for his week as Top Turtle – we loved it! This Tuesday and Wednesday there is STAAR testing on campus so we will be walking to the park for recess. Be sure you have turned in your permission slip! Congratulations to Kiera for mastering her addition facts in Mad Minute! Last week your child’s new Wildly Important Reading Goal came home (WIG). Be sure to take note of this! Last quarter our class had 100% of students meet their WIG – Awesome job!! This month is Poetry month. Your child can submit a poem to the library. April 2nd -6th Welcome! Thank you for ALL of the egg donations! The kiddos had a lot of fun solving math problems Thursday! I hope you enjoyed the three day weekend J! Our field trip is Tuesday! Wear your First Grade shirt (green) and tennis shoes! Also, please pack disposable water bottles and lunch sacks. The less we have to worry about the better! March 19th – 23rd Welcome! I am back!!! I got a great report from the substitute J! My husband and all involved in the chain are doing great. Modern medicine is amazing!!! Thank you so much for your understanding, care, and concern. I appreciate your support J! Be sure to send in your child’s permission slip for our field trip. If you are able to chaperone, please let me know! Great Oaks Carnival is this Saturday. Be prepared for a lot of emails this week! We need volunteers!!! If you are able to volunteer, your child will receive a reward (lunch with me, stuffed animal pass, etc.) of their choosing. It is always a GREAT event – I hope you can make it! We are having an egg hunt in first grade. Please send in a dozen plastic eggs (with carton) filled with a small trinket/surprise by Monday, March 26th. It is a fun math challenge for the students!! If you are unable to send any in, please let me know so that I can prepare extras. A note is coming home TODAY. The third quarter ends this Friday – it is hard to believe! Happy Spring!
